Work / Projects
At any given moment, I'm probably distracted by one or more pet projects. Most of them are private but here is some of the public stuff.
racenation.com (2008)
A social website for endurance athletes, race communities, and local clubs.
Product Development Team:
Winston Fassett
Trent Foley
Zuriel Barron
mindtree.winstonfassett.com (2007)
A mindmapping tool in the spirit of MindManager and FreeMind.
Spatial, hierarchical information management with zoomable, animated user interface, flexible formatting, drag and drop, clipboard support, undo / redo, and numerous export options.
I love this project and have used the application every day, but unfortunately have been too busy to work on it at all in 2008.
If by chance you feel like funding this into a real product,
we could do some great things.
www.ourstuf.com (2006)
An experiment in sharing stuff within communities. Originally meant to be a "virtual library" and later a "virtual everything-brary".
Integrated with Amazon's catalog for easy listing. Cue-Cat friendly.
Just needs some TLC.
I think it could be quite useful if I had time to work on it.
And if I did, then look out, Neighborrow and BorrowMe.
NHibernate DataSource (2007)
If you talk to me about either .NET or Java,
I will probably try to get you to at least consider using Hibernate / NHibernate.
It's awesome.
At a previous company, I wrote a slew of library classes to work with NH, including a DataSource implementation that is pretty slick, in my opinion, especially given the general absence of DataSource implementations. I think it compares pretty well to Microsoft's own LinqDataSource (despite pre-dating it).
Unfortunately it can't make up for the shortcomings of ASP.NET data-binding, and many "architects" turn up their nose at coupling the UI with the data layer,
But I used it a lot for rapid app construction and prototyping,
and I'm proud of it.
